Fume Hoods

A sort of local exhaust ventilation system are laboratory fume hoods. To exhaust chemical fumes, vapors, gases, dust, mist, and aerosol is their main purpose. Additionally, fume hoods act as physical barriers between processes and the lab, providing some defense against fires, chemical spills, runaway reactions, and inhalation exposure.

A typical fume hood is a cabinet with a movable safety glass front sash (window). They make it safe and convenient for laboratory staff to work closely with potentially dangerous or lethal materials.
